This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the Revolutionary War Encampment at Rock Ford Plantation, one of the best-run large scale reenactments I’ve ever participated in. As usual, I spent much of my time taking photographs, and I am rather happy with many of the shots I got, especially those I got of the cavalry on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. This is one of those shots, of three dragoon troops on horseback, and it’s one of my best shots of the weekend, I think. What do you think?
What’s funny about this photo is that while I was standing there, two other photographers with professional cameras were trying to get the same shot, and both of them gave up, saying that there was too much backlighting for anything to come out. Clearly, I proved them wrong, and not only did my shot come out, but the backlighting ended up being in large part what made the shot!
